Transcendence “Fractals of the Unknown” by Matthew Kurtyka

Matthew is a creative from Harrisburg, PA. He has been passionate about the arts since his early childhood, spending the last decade refining his creative expression as an artist. Matthew currently resides in St. Petersburg, FL, and is passionate about offering tattoos, sharing music and building community.

“Transcendence” explores the infinite potentials of creation, stepping past our own limits of perception. For Matthew, this journey of expansion happens through the heart. Each piece is an opportunity to cross a threshold into the unknown.

For Matthew, art is a ceremony and communion. It is an attempt to witness and allow the creative process to unfold without judgment. We are all channels for this infinite expression, as it wants to move through us however it can!

Matthew’s pieces are created with pen and ink on archival paper. Some pieces take months to finish, as the creative process is a meditative practice. He enjoys bringing the masculine elements of perspective, symmetry and geometry with the feminine elements of flow, color and expression.

Each piece comes from a different source of inspiration, some in the moment and others from a prior vision. The exploration of plant medicine, heart-opening practices and meditation have significantly impacted Matthew’s art.
