John has lived and worked in the Central Pennsylvania area since the end of his high school years. His work takes influence from the Susquehanna River and ancient worn mountain ranges of the region. He has worked in ceramics off and on spanning a nearly a half century.
Upon retirement he began to focus his full attention to his ceramics. A workshop with Internationally known pit fire potter, Bennett Bean added a new wrinkle to the pit fire process which he had experimented with over many years. His work leans as much toward art as it does craft though he has been recognized as a Master Artisan by the PA Guild of Craftsmen.
