Cecilia knew she wanted to be an artist when she was just a young girl. She would draw and color on anything she could find including but not limited to coloring books, school textbook covers made from recycled paper bags, and even some of her clothes.
Cecilia’s art education began in high school where she earned a certificate in Commercial Art. From there she went to Harrisburg Community College and took courses in Fine Art. She earned her BFA from Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, CA and went on to do some graduate work in Anthropology and earned an AS in Environmental Science. As you can guess, Cecilia always had the best-looking notebooks whether there were illustrations of the Mayan calendar or the anatomy of a leaf.
Cecilia’s drawings and paintings have been influenced by creators who came before her. She very much loved the colors and style of the Knights of Impressionism. She was also strongly impacted by Her Lady, Yayoi Kusama and found her repetitive nature and meditative process very appealing. It took years for Cecilia to evolve to the style of Dot Art that she uses today. With her small paint brush, she creates colorful dream worlds with textural dots. Her world encompasses everything from figures to flowers and from underwater to landscapes. To this day, she still does not know if her soul cares what subject she is painting or if she is simply happy just because she is painting?
After returning home to Central PA, Cecilia has shown her artwork at the former 2nd Floor Gallery in Mechanicsburg and also at Creative York. She has been part of the Hive Artspace family for many years and now she begins a new adventure with new friends at BrainVessel Gallery.
