June 15 @ 3:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Michele Randall is an artist, curator, and instructor. A native of rural Pennsylvania, her work is influenced by her connection to environment and place. Trained as a printmaker, Michele incorporates these techniques into her encaustic work.

Michele has a BS and an MFA from Penn State University. She has taught a wide range of courses from the University level to advanced artist workshops at Conferences and retreats.  Currently, she works full time as an artist, workshop instructor and mentor in encaustic, cyanotype, and mixed media.  She is an R&F Certified Instructor and a board member with the International Encaustic Association.

Michele exhibits across the US, Canada and Europe. Upcoming workshops in encaustic and cyanotype will be held in Pittsburgh, Cape Cod, and Touchstone Center for the Arts. Please visit her website for more details.

Land Mass

The exhibit Land Mass draws on the human connection to the rural landscape. A native of Pennsylvania, Michele Randall, grew up among farmland, wooded outposts and streams. During her lifetime, she has watched as urban growth has transformed these open fields. These paintings are a memory of that expansiveness and celebration of the areas as yet untouched.

She is interested in color, light, and shape that builds and reveals a sense of movement in the paintings. Michele pursues abstraction that brings an emotional connection to the viewer.

Michele makes abstract works of art using encaustic paint and oil stick.  Encaustic is a beeswax- based medium that is applied and manipulated in its molten state. The technique creates a luminous, sculptural paintings, rich in color.

Simultaneously, Michele produces abstract and image-based prints using cyanotype, a camera-less photography technique that produces a deep blue, nostalgic form. The cyanotype works in this show will also pay homage to the landscape and native plants of Pennsylvania.
