Ginkgo Vase Series #1

These vase forms are “thrown” on the potters wheel and are decorated with white slip. They are incised and scratched to divide space and to provide movement. Often when applying the white slip, leaves from various tree types are used as stencils to provide the leafs image. They are all glazed with an Amber Celedon with a kiss of Pete’s Red on the lip and sometimes the base of the piece. Favored leaves are ginkgo and maple. These pieces are then fired in a gas kin to a temperature of approximately 2350F.
