Black and White Raku Vase made on the potter’s wheel glazed from the inside.
Signed by the artists.
Raku produces one of a kind pieces due to the unique firing and smoking methods. Raku clay is first formed and then given several days to dry. After drying time has passed, the piece is then fired at 1850 degree F. and later glazed. The second firing involves firing at 1850 degree F. and then immediately placing the piece in a container with combustible materials and eliminating its exposure to oxygen. And this will give the raku their unique appearance.
Raku pieces are porous and for decorative purpose only.
Since raku glazing creates a crackle effect, you may notice consistent crackles throughout some pieces. These are not actually cracks.
