“Thinking Inside of the Box” By Vicki Bricker

“Thinking Inside of the Box” is a collection of colorful and playful “boxes of curiosity “. Using paper ephemera and random everyday objects from the past, each piece in the collection creates a unique vignette that reflects the artist’s curiosity and desire to discover what happens when unrelated images and elements are brought together inside the world of a box.

I like to think of my art pieces as “curious thoughts in a box”.

For me, making art is not a result of conscious decision-making as it is a compulsive need to create. It’s a drive to revisit that quiet internal space that allows me to let go of the rational and ordinary expectations of everyday life. Creating art gives me the freedom to be spontaneous, to explore and play with images and ideas, to express humor and curiosity, and through the process, to find a sense of fulfillment that exists nowhere else.

In my art, I employ elements of both assemblage and collage. I use paper images, small objects of various types and materials, and repurposed boxes and frames.
